Make sure your web cam is connected and switched on. If you have speakers connected to your pc, ensure these are turned on too. If you don't have a webcam you can purchase one here.

Make sure you have your marker ready. You can use the front cover
of your Tesco Direct catalogue, Tesco Clubcard, Tesco Tech support guide or: Print your AR marker here

Select which product you would like to see within Augmented Reality, from the selection below. Then follow the instructions to install the required plug-in.

Questions and Answers regarding Markers: What markers can I use? Either the front cover of the Tesco Direct catalogue, the Tesco Tech guide,the printable marker or your Tesco clubcard. I don't have a colour printer? No problem. The Augmented Reality system will work just as well with a black and white printed marker. The Augmented Reality product keeps disappearing when I show the marker to the camera? The camera is struggling to see the marker. If you are showing the marker to the camera at an acute angle, it may be finding it difficult to see it fully. Try reducing the angle that you present it to the camera. Sometimes the Augmented Reality product disappears? This may be due to very low or very high ambient lighting. Your webcam may find it difficult to work in extreme lighting conditions. Why is it difficult to see the TVs when I use my clubcard as a marker? Your clubcard is very small and your webcam is finding it difficult to focus on it from any significant distance. Just like we all struggle to see signs from long distances. Try using the Tesco Direct catalogue or Tesco Tech guide, or even use the printed marker.
Questions and Answers regarding Products: Can I see more TVs, DVDs, Games, Music and Toys than what in the list? Soon, yes. We are developing the Augmented Reality system to be compatible with a vast number of products within Tesco. Watch this spaceâ€¦ Is this really what the TV looks like? Yes. The image you are seeing is an exact representation in virtual reality. Including size. How can I rescale the product to look bigger? The models are scaled to be true size, so rescaling would give a false impression of its actual size, but you can move the marker closer to your webcam and it will look bigger just by being closer. If I buy this TV, will the HDMI ports and power port be in the same place as on the Augmented Reality TV? Yes. The Augmented Reality virtual models were created from actual TVs are completely representative of what you will buy, however the port sizes may not be to scale.
Questions and Answers regarding Webcam: What webcams are best for using AR? The higher the definition the better as a general guide. However, the Augmented Reality should work with just about any webcam that has a reasonable picture. If the picture from the webcam is blurred, then it will find it difficult to see the marker properly and may be unreliable for Augmented Reality use. I have a built in camera on my laptop, will this work? Absolutely! As long as the performance of the laptop meets minimum specification, then it should be fine. When I load the Augmented Reality application, it asks me to select a camera? You probably have a built in camera and also an external webcam. The Augmented Reality is asking which one you would like to use. Just select the one you want to use and it then run automatically. My webcam is a USB type, will it work? Yes, no problem. As long as the rest of your PC meets minimum specification, it will work fine. When I move my camera around the Augmented Reality loses the tracking? Your PC may be struggling to keep up with the speed that you are moving the camera or it may be struggling to see the marker if the distance between the camera and marker are significant. Try slowing your movements down or moving closer to the marker.
Questions and Answers regarding Loading Problems: When the application starts it freezes and goes no further. Look towards the top of the window and look to see if your security system is asking if you would like to run â€œactive xâ€. If so, simply click â€œyesâ€. This is a plug-in that is required to run the application. How long should it take to download these Augmented Reality products? This is very dependant on your internet connection speed and connection. With an average 2mb bandwidth and no connection, each product should take no more than a few minutes.
Questions and Answers regarding Minimum Specifications: There is some grey areas here as a fast PC with no graphics card may struggle a little in the same way as a much slower PC will struggle with an average graphics card. Try to use these specifications as a minimum guide. · 512 meg of RAM (1 gig or higher for Vista)
